Join TLC's Millennial Task Force in creating awareness of BFRBs and enlarging TLC’s membership is an important part of TLC’s mission. To enhance our efforts we need a small army of “Ambassadors” willing to share accurate information and dispel misconceptions in a sensitive and supportive manner. This pre-conference workshop gives you an opportunity to explore what it would be like to be a TLC Ambassador. Ambassadors will help organize and promote outreach programs in schools, colleges and community groups within their communities. This is a two-part session.

Mindfulness Based Impulse Reduction for BFRBs: A strategy for living!
For most of us with BFRBs, it is incredibly difficult to change unwanted behavior, especially when not fully aware of the role it plays in our awareness and moment-to-moment processing! Increasing our core awareness is a fundamental part of BFRB recovery as it expands the ability to make healthier choices that support being pull/pick free. After a brief overview of how mindfulness training can effectively support long-term recovery and the practice of it in her own life, Christina will lead participants in the practice of 2 useful stress reduction & awareness exercises drawn from her popular online course, followed by group discussion.

Learn a different way to respond to your urges. Instead of trying to stop or ignore the urge, respond with mindful awareness. Learn how to use informal and formal mindfulness techniques to begin a new relationship with your BFRB. Both in the moment strategies to use when you have the urge or notice you're picking or pulling, and daily meditations to help improve your overall wellbeing will be taught. You will walk away with new tools to help you accept your urges and behaviors, as well as yourself, which paradoxically may lead you to reduce the behaviors.

Do you feel free, liberated and able to communicate your ideas, thoughts and feelings? Or, is it a struggle to notice how you feel inside and to confidently express yourself after an episode of skin picking? Our voice is SO crucial in the battle against skin picking.
In this workshop, we will ask ourselves:
Can connecting to our bodies and voices empower us individuals?
Can it better help those around us to understand our battle against skin picking?
Can using our voices more effectively lessen the secrecy around skin picking?
